Donate Professional Clothing

Give new or gently used professional attire a new purpose. Donations to The Career Closet help Rutgers students prepare for interviews, internships, career fairs, and the workplace with confidence.

Professional Clothing We Accept

We accept feminine- and masculine-cut suits, blazers, professional dress shirts, feminine-cut professional pants and skirts, and ties—preferably in solid colors. Masculine-cut suits in size 44 and below are especially needed.

Items We Cannot Accept

We cannot accept polos, khakis, jeans, shoes, belts, purses, coats, custom-tailored clothing, or masculine-cut suit jackets and pants that do not have their matching pieces.

Prepare Your Donation

Clothing must be clean, neat, and ready to wear. Fold items carefully or place them on hangers, inspect dress-shirt collars for stains or yellowing, and label each bag or box “Career Closet Donation.”

Drop-In Donation Hours

Bring donations to Career Exploration and Success at 106 Somerset Street, 4th Floor, Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Off-street parking is available in front of the building.

Schedule a Drop-Off

To arrange a drop-off Monday through Friday, email careercloset@echo.rutgers.edu. From May through August, all donation drop-offs must be scheduled in advance.

Organize a Clothing Drive

Employers and community organizations can collect professional clothing for Rutgers students. Email us to coordinate donation-box locations at your office or place of business.

Your Financial Gift Makes an Impact
