CES Elevated to AVP Level with Wil Jones Named Inaugural Assistant Vice Provost for Career Development
The Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick is entering an exciting new chapter with the elevation of its leadership to the Assistant Vice Provost level—an important milestone that reflects the university’s deepening commitment to career readiness as a core component of student success.
William (Wil) Jones has been named Assistant Vice Provost for Career Development and Executive Director of Career Exploration and Success, recognizing both his leadership and the transformative growth of CES as a driving force in shaping student outcomes.
This advancement signals the continued momentum behind Rutgers–New Brunswick’s vision to build a truly career-ready campus—one where every student is supported in exploring their interests, developing critical skills, and pursuing meaningful post-graduation opportunities.
Building a Career-Ready Campus
Under Wil’s leadership, Career Exploration and Success has become a central hub for career development, connecting students to opportunities, resources, and experiences that prepare them for life beyond Rutgers.
As the university’s chief career officer, Wil chairs the Career-Ready Campus Task Force and serves on the core team for the Student Success pillar of the Path to the Top Ten initiative. He leads a dynamic career ecosystem of more than 200 partners, including faculty, staff, alumni, and employers, working collaboratively to integrate career readiness across the student experience.
Together, these efforts are helping students not only navigate their academic journeys, but also build the confidence, competencies, and connections needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving workforce.
