CES Employment Opportunities
Career Exploration and Success (CES) helps students align their academic experiences with potential career paths by providing advising, resources, and programs. We assist individuals in exploring interests, values, and skills, discovering diverse careers and majors, gaining practical experience through internships and hands-on opportunities, and pursuing post-graduate goals. Our strong connections with alumni, employers, and graduate schools enhance internship, job, and career prospects. Additionally, we partner strategically with campus departments to support students in developing and showcasing co-curricular experiences that increase competitiveness in future endeavors. CES comprises a dedicated team of over 50 staff members, consisting of both full-time staff members and graduate coordinators. In addition, we have the support of over 150 undergraduate student colleagues who play vital roles in assisting us in achieving our mission.
Forbes Names Rutgers #1 in State, #64 of America’s Best Large Employers
Rutgers moved up 31 places to #64 of 500 employers – and is the #1 ranked New Jersey-based employer – on the publication’s 2023 list of America’s Best Large Employers.
“We are proud to once again be recognized by Forbes as one of the country’s top-ranked employers,” said Vivian Fernandez, the university’s senior vice president for human resources. “Rutgers continues to be committed to workplace excellence, especially in financially challenging times. We will continue to listen to our employees, to respond to varying needs and to make Rutgers a welcoming and rewarding place to work.”
Flexible Work Arrangement Program
Rutgers announced the extension of the FlexWork@RU Pilot Program through January 31, 2026. Full-time staff members within Career Exploration and Success are permitted to either a 4:1 compressed work week or up to two days per week of remote work.
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Additional information may be found at https://futureofwork.rutgers.edu.
Additionally, CES has implemented #FocusFriday, a department-wide practice where internal meetings between CES colleagues are discouraged every Friday. This dedicated time enables staff to concentrate on accomplishing their goals. Periodic meditation or mental health breaks throughout the day are also supported. To further support productivity, CES encourages the utilization of automated "Focus Blocks" through Microsoft Outlook. These automated blocks allow staff members to schedule designated periods of uninterrupted work time, further maximizing productivity and focus.
