On-Campus Work Experience Network (OWN) Program
Enhanced Job Placement Experience
The On-Campus Work Experience Network (OWN) is a unique and customized program that will supplement your Federal Work-Study job placement through interactive leadership workshops to explore connections to potential careers and strengthen professional skills and your ability to leverage them, along with a cohort of your peers. In addition to leadership workshops OWN participants are paired with a supervisor who has agreed to serve as a mentor dedicated to your success.
What is the OWN program?
As part of a financial aid package, students are invited to participate in the On-Campus Work Experience Network (OWN)—a unique and customized program that will supplement your Federal Work-Study job placement through interactive leadership workshops and designated mentoring.
What are the benefits of the OWN program?
Those who participate will (1) attend an exclusive retreat program to build community with their cohort and a group of staff on campus who are all committed to their success at RU, (2) engage in regular check-ins with their work-site supervisor to discuss professional progress, (3) connect with their cohort throughout the first year via a series of workshops designed to support academic and professional development, and (4) have the opportunity to work additional hours (at least ten total hours per week) at their on-campus work-study placement site.
How do I apply for the OWN program?
Select admitted Rutgers University-New Brunswick students will be notified via email if they are eligible and will be offered an on-campus employment opportunity funded through the Federal Work-Study program as part of their financial aid package. OWN eligible students will receive a link to apply for this program during the summer before their first-year. Please Note: Interest is not a guarantee of participation in this program as the community is capped at a set number of participants.
