Program Director for the Education, Human Services and Non-Profits & Law; Public Health, Policy, and Safety
As a Program Director of Career Interest Communities, I oversee the Education, Human Services, Non-Profit, Law, Public Health, Policy, and Safety Career Communities. I manage advisory boards and help students navigate their career journeys through alumni mentorship and engagement, networking opportunities, programming, and advisement. Prior to becoming a Program Director of Career Interest Communities, I was an Interim Internship Coordinator at Montclair State University. In this role, I supported students in seeking internship opportunities that were tailored toward their career goals through advisement meetings. Additionally, I built partnerships and recruited employers about internship opportunities at their sites. I also held a role as a Graduate Counseling Intern within Rutgers Career Exploration and Success office where I met with undergraduates, graduates, and alumni from a wide range of majors, helping them with topics ranging from resume and cover letter writing, self-assessments, exploring majors and careers, skills development, graduate studies, and job search strategies. After earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Family Science and Human Development from Montclair State University, I continued my studies to earn a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling with a Concentration in Student Affairs/Higher Education.
One piece of advice you would offer to students: Most of our lives are dedicated to working, therefore, it is important to find a career that is both meaningful and fulfilling. Also, take advantage of the many opportunities offered at Rutgers. Getting involved in clubs/professional organizations, internships/co-ops, and part-time jobs are all wonderful opportunities to gain experience and can be helpful to your career journey and development.
