Student Employee Spotlight Panel (In-Person)

Curious how Rutgers students are using on-campus jobs to build confidence and career readiness? Join this panel to hear upperclassmen share real stories about how student employment helped them develop skills employers value, grow professionally, and clarify career goals. You will leave with practical ideas you can apply in your own role, even if your job does not feel directly connected to your major.

What You Will Learn and Do

You Will:

  • Hear how student employees built confidence through real workplace situations

  • Learn how students connected their work experience to internships, leadership, and career goals

  • Identify transferable skills you are likely already building on the job

  • Get strategies for standing out at work, asking for growth opportunities, and communicating your impact

  • Have time for Q&A so you can ask questions and get honest advice

Great fit for you if you:

  • Recently started a campus job and want to make the most of it

  • Want to feel more confident communicating with supervisors and coworkers

  • Are exploring majors and careers and want real examples from peers

  • Want ideas for how to talk about your student employment on a resume, LinkedIn, or in interviews

How to prepare

Bring one question you would like to ask the student panelists. If you can, reflect on one skill you want to build this semester so you can compare notes and leave with next steps.
