Francisco Cantero Soriano

Graduate Coordinator, Rutgers Scarlet Service Internship (RSSI) Program
As a Graduate Coordinator for the Rutgers Scarlet Service Internship (RSSI) Program, Francisco supports the overall program planning and initiatives, while further assisting with administrative aspects of the program to actively engage students in impactful internships and public service.
Before coming to Rutgers, Francisco earned a Master’s in Hispanic Studies from the University of Cádiz (Spain) and a Master’s in Spanish from Auburn University in Alabama. He also holds two Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Cádiz; one in English Linguistics and Literature, and another in Hispanic Linguistics and Literature. In addition to his academic background, Francisco has experience in Operations and Academic Management. He is also the founding editor of Ímpetu, a journal of Spanish literature and arts.
Currently, Francisco is pursuing his Ph.D. in Latin American, Iberian and Luso-Afro-Brazilian Literatures and Cultures at Rutgers University. One piece of advice that he would give to students is to treat the internship as a site of inquiry, as an extension of their intellectual practice, where ideas take form in real-world structures, values translate into action, and commitments evolve in contact with others.
