Resume Essentials: Turning Tasks into Impact (In-Person)

Many students list job duties on their resume, but employers want to see impact. In this workshop, you will learn how to translate your campus job responsibilities into strong, results-focused bullet points that clearly communicate your skills and value. You will practice turning “what I did” into “how I contributed,” using simple frameworks you can apply to any role.

What You Will Learn and Do

You will leave with:

  • A clear formula for writing strong bullet points (action + skill + result)

  • Examples of how to describe student employment work in an employer-ready way

  • Tips for selecting the most relevant bullets for internships and jobs

  • Time to write and revise multiple bullet points during the session

  • Feedback to help you improve clarity, impact, and professionalism

Great fit for you if you:

  • Have a resume but feel like your bullets sound basic or repetitive

  • Want to better showcase your student employment or club involvement experience

  • Are applying for internships, research roles, or campus leadership opportunities

  • Want to feel confident that your resume communicates real skills, not just tasks

How to prepare

Bring a laptop if possible and a copy of your current resume (even if it is a draft). If you do not have a resume yet, bring a quick list of your job responsibilities and any accomplishments, projects, or times you solved a problem at work.
