Program Description
SMBC Explore is a unique one-day summit for junior college students who are interested in a career within the financial services industry and are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
This event is open to all and provides an exclusive opportunity for participants to interact directly with business professionals at SMBC who have a wealth of experience in their respective fields. This is a great opportunity to learn more about SMBC, our emphasis on a culture of inclusion, and why our firm is a great place for professional development and career growth.
Program Elements
- SMBC Explore 2026 features a full-day program designed to introduce you to SMBC and to each other – all within a convenient virtual setting for this year’s program offering
- Learn about our internship and analyst programs, recruitment timeline, and our various businesses
- Panel discussions and mock interviews with former summer interns, managers, and senior leaders at the firm
- Introduction to our Inclusion & Belonging team, and our Enterprise Resource Groups (ERGs)
- Professional skills-building workshops
- Interactive breakout sessions for networking
Preferred Qualifications
- Current undergraduate junior students (graduation must fall between December 2027 and May 2028)
- All majors are welcome to apply
- Strong interest in a career within financial services
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely
- Outstanding ethics, integrity, judgment, and intellectual curiosity
- You will not require sponsorship now or in the future for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa) to work for SMBC
