Interview Skills Lab: Campus Jobs and Internships (In-Person)

Interviews can feel intimidating, especially when you are not sure how to talk about your experience. This skills lab is designed to help you practice common interview questions, build strong STAR stories, and communicate your student employment experience in a way that clearly shows your skills and impact. You will leave with stronger answers, more confidence, and a plan to keep improving.

What You Will Learn and Do

You will leave with:

  • Practice answering common internship and job interview questions in a supportive setting

  • Build and refine at least one STAR story you can reuse across multiple interviews

  • Learn how to connect your campus job tasks to transferable skills employers look for

  • Get feedback to improve clarity, structure, confidence, and professional presence

  • Leave with a checklist for continued interview practice and preparation

Great fit for you if you:

  • Have an interview coming up for a campus job, internship, research role, or part-time job

  • Know you have experience, but struggle to explain it in an interview

  • Want to practice speaking clearly and confidently, not just “prepare in your head”

  • Want to turn your student employment experience into interview-ready examples

How to prepare

Bring a laptop if you can, and come with one role you are applying for (or a career field you are targeting). If possible, bring a copy of your resume and one job or internship posting you are interested in so you can tailor your STAR story practice.
