Internship and Job Search Strategy (In-Person)
Applying to internships and jobs can feel overwhelming when you are not sure where to search, what roles fit you, or how to stay organized. This session will help you build a clear, realistic job and internship search strategy that aligns with your interests and goals. You will learn how to identify target roles, find opportunities using the right platforms, and create a weekly plan that keeps you consistent and confident.
What You Will Learn and Do
You will leave with:
- Clarify what types of roles and industries you are targeting, even if you are still exploring
- Learn where to find opportunities, including Handshake, LinkedIn, and other search tools
- Understand how to read postings strategically and spot what employers actually want
- Build a simple application tracking system so you can stay organized and follow up
- Leave with a weekly plan for applying, networking, and building experience over time
Great fit for you if you:
- Want internships, part-time roles, research positions, or summer opportunities
- Feel unsure how to narrow your search or what keywords to use
- Have applied before but did not hear back and want a stronger approach
- Want to develop a structured search strategy for internships and jobs
How to prepare
Bring a laptop if possible. Come with one career area you are interested in (even if broad), and if you have it, bring your resume and one role or internship posting you are considering so you can apply the strategies in real time.
