We're excited to launch the Graduate Career Pathways Mentorship Program, a structured 6-month initiative that pairs current Rutgers graduate students with alumni and professionals from academia, industry, government, and nonprofit sectors.
Program Goals
- Provide personalized career guidance tailored to your field and goals
- Develop critical career management, communication, and leadership skills
- Build long-term, supportive networks in diverse sectors
- Support transitions into academic or non-academic careers
How It Works
- Mentor-Mentee Matching: Based on career interests and background
- 6-Month Commitment: Monthly conversations between Mentor and Mentee
- Experiential Learning: Each pair sets personalized, actionable objectives to learn on the job
- Structured Support: Access to discussion guides, training, and program staff
Training for Mentors and Mentees
To ensure a meaningful and equitable experience for all, participants will take part in:
- Orientation sessions to set expectations and goals
- Ongoing access to toolkits, resources, and peer support networks
- Workshops on:
- Navigating graduate school and post-graduation transitions
- Exploring academic and non-academic job markets
- Building confidence in resumes, CVs, and interviewing
