Graduate Career Pathways Mentorship Program

We're excited to launch the Graduate Career Pathways Mentorship Program, a structured 6-month initiative that pairs current Rutgers graduate students with alumni and professionals from academia, industry, government, and nonprofit sectors.

Program Goals

  • Provide personalized career guidance tailored to your field and goals
  • Develop critical career management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Build long-term, supportive networks in diverse sectors
  • Support transitions into academic or non-academic careers

How It Works

  • Mentor-Mentee Matching: Based on career interests and background
  • 6-Month Commitment: Monthly conversations between Mentor and Mentee
  • Experiential Learning: Each pair sets personalized, actionable objectives to learn on the job
  • Structured Support: Access to discussion guides, training, and program staff

Training for Mentors and Mentees

To ensure a meaningful and equitable experience for all, participants will take part in:

  • Orientation sessions to set expectations and goals
  • Ongoing access to toolkits, resources, and peer support networks
  • Workshops on:
    • Navigating graduate school and post-graduation transitions
    • Exploring academic and non-academic job markets
    • Building confidence in resumes, CVs, and interviewing
