Through this program, students can clarify their career goals, access exclusive recruiting resources that unlock valuable internship experiences, and actively engage in various opportunities that enhance their competitiveness in pursuing their future careers. Employer Information

  • The 4WARD Mentoring Program pairs professionals with undergraduate students based on aligned career pathways and industry categories. Mentors provide career guidance, industry perspective, and professional development support from October through April.

    While students are grouped into career categories within broader pathways, mentors are not expected to match a student’s exact career goal. The emphasis is on professional mentorship, transferable skills, and exposure to career journeys.

  • By participating as a mentor, professionals can:

    • Support students who may have limited career networks
    • Share industry insight and lived professional experience
    • Strengthen leadership and coaching skills
    • Increase employer visibility on campus
    • Contribute to equitable access to career development
    • Build relationships with emerging talent
  • Mentors are asked to:

    • Meet with their student for ~2 hrs per month (virtually or in person)
    • Offer guidance on career exploration and professional development
    • Share insight into industry expectations and career progression
    • Complete brief monthly check-ins

    Estimated time commitment: Approximately ~2 hours per month from October through April.

  • Students participating in 4WARD are:

    • Sophomore undergraduate students
    • Exploring defined career pathways

    • Engaged in structured professional development programming

    Motivated to build professional relationships
     

  • The mentoring relationship is developmental in nature. Mentors are not expected to provide internships, job shadowing, or employment opportunities, though those connections may develop organically.

    The primary goal is to support students in building confidence, professional skills, and clarity about their future careers through a meaningful professional relationship.
