What are Career Communities?

Career Exploration and Success uses a new career development model focused on career interests. This allows students to break out of the confines of viewing career opportunities based on majors and opens the door to a larger portrait of post-graduation options. Workshops, networking events, and job/internship postings within Rutgers Handshake are now structured around the career interest communities.

What the New Model Is NOT:

  • Services for specific majors only
  • A focus solely on “professional” academic programs (e.g., RBS, SMLR, EOE, etc.)

What the New Model IS:

  • Focus on the idea that major doesn’t always equal career
  • Designed around career areas/fields
  • Help students explore their career interests and how to get there
