Peer Instructors (PIs) are chosen to teach a FIGS through a highly-selective interview process held in February and March. Each PI has the opportunity to develop a unique course and introduce first-year students to an exciting topical area, relevant academic tracks, and future career opportunities. PIs participate in training and design their courses during the spring and summer months. In the fall, they enroll in “Peer Instructor Education,” a three-credit course designed to help them improve their teaching and public speaking skills and reflect on their classroom experiences while they teach their FIGS course.
Each year, our PIs teach approximately seventy-five classes in thirty diverse topical areas.
